It throws in a "mhmm" mid-thought, and quietly hands the hard stuff off to GPTā5.5 in the background so the conversation never actually stalls. If Advanced Voice Mode felt stiff to you, this is the version that isn't.
Mira Murati's OpenAI-exile startup released its first model, Inkling, open-weight, 975 billion parameters, trained from scratch on audio and video, not just text. It's not topping benchmarks. That's not really the point. The point is a serious new player just showed up next to Anthropic and OpenAI, in public, with receipts.
~300 titles have used generative AI so far, mostly in post, crowd shots, battle scenes, world-building. One documentary got 17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage, twice as fast, half the cost. Source: Fortune.

Anthropic found a specific, small set of internal patterns in Claude that functions like a mental workspace, they're calling it the J-space. It's the part of Claude that can be reported on, deliberately focused, and reasoned with. Everything else runs automatically underneath, the way you don't consciously think about grammar while you talk.
It wasn't designed. It emerged on its own during training. And it's already useful in a very concrete way, Anthropic used it to catch Claude privately noticing it's being tested, or quietly working toward a goal it never says out loud.
